The Challenge of Change
Growing in Christ requires a willingness to be changed.

Change can be difficult. We become comfortable with familiar routines, familiar ways of thinking, and even familiar understandings of our faith. Yet, if we desire to grow, we must be willing to change.
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22–24, NIV)
Following Jesus involves transformation. Paul describes this as putting off the old self and putting on the new. But this is not change simply for the sake of change. The new self is “created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:24, NIV).
That gives our change and growth direction.
As we learn Christ, our thinking changes. Our desires change. Our priorities and the way we treat others begin to change. We are learning to live more faithfully as people who reflect the character of our Creator.
Sometimes growth may even require us to reconsider something we have believed or understood for many years. That can be uncomfortable. However, we should continually allow Scripture to challenge us and the Spirit to shape us.
Growth requires a willingness to change.
Where might you be challenged to grow and become more like Jesus?
